Featuring a foreword by Ira Turkat, the book discusses the benefits of this seminal approach to CBT and shows how dynamic, individualized assessment of complex individual problems can be more effective than standard diagnostic classification.

In addition to theoretical chapters, the book also presents advanced case studies with detailed analysis from experts in the field. It is tailored for student use in training courses but will also be of interest to clinical and health psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers and other mental health practitioners. Comprehensive and coherent, Beyond Diagnosis returns case formulation to the focus that Meyer intended and demonstrates its continuing relevance in clinical practice today.

About The Author

Michael Bruch is a Consultant Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapist and Senior Research Associate in the Department of Psychology at University College London. He is also a visiting professor in the Dept of Psychology at London Metropolitan University. Previously, he was co-director of the Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapy unit at UCL and visiting professor in the Dept of Mental Health Sciences.
He teaches CBT with particular emphasis on case formulation at a number of universities across Europe. His main research interests involve conceptualization of complex disorders, psychotherapy training and supervision, and case formulation. He has published widely, including five books on CBT.
