Daraufhin wird auf die chronologische Entwicklung des Prozessmanagements und Big Data eingegangen und in den betrieblichen Zusammenhang gesetzt. Anschlie end wird der aktuelle Forschungsstand aufgezeigt. Der anschlie ende Anwendungsfall soll zeigen, wie Big Data Geschäftsprozesse beeinflusst. Im abschlie enden Fazit wird ein Ausblick gegeben und die Arbeitsergebnisse einer kritischen Reflektion unterzogen. Die Verfügbarkeit von Daten hat sich in den vergangenen Jahren drastisch verändert. Durch den technologischen Fortschritt wird der Umfang von Speichermedien im Unternehmensumfeld immer grö er. Immer neue Datenquellen, die zunehmende Verbreitung mobiler und internetfähiger Geräte tragen dazu bei, dass sich Unternehmen der Herausforderung stellen, grö ere Datenmengen zu erfassen, zu speichern und auszuwerten. Der Umgang mit Daten ist sowohl für Unternehmen, deren Wertschöpfung auf einem datenbasierten Geschäftsmodell beruht, als auch für Unternehmen, deren Wertschöpfung nicht datengetrieben ist, eine Herausforderung. Ein passendes Geschäftsmodell macht aus dem Datenvorrat einen potenziellen Wert. Der Bestand von Daten und Informationen wird oftmals als Big Data bezeichnet. Big Data ermöglicht es Unternehmen neue Geschäftsprozesse zu entwickeln, bestehende Prozesse zu verbessern und zu erweitern und vorhandene Potentiale auszuschöpfen. Diese Möglichkeiten müssen vom Prozessmanagement gestaltet und gesteuert werden. Das Zusammenspiel von Big Data und Prozessmanagement gilt es für Unternehmen stets zu managen.
