Der PrograrnrnausschuB hat sich bemuht, unter dem Thema - "Biometrie - heute und morgen" ein Prograrnrn zusarnrnenzustellen, das nicht nur den Biometrikern selbst Anregungen gibt, sondern auch fur die verschiede- nen Anwendungsgebiete relevante Informationen enthalt. Das Thema entspricht der wachsenden Einsicht, daB die vielfaltigen Eingriffe der modernen Technik in die Biosphare eine Herausforderung auch an die Biometrie darstellen. Von ihr wird erwartet, fur die not- wendigen Entscheidungen die rationalen Grundlagen zu liefern. Die Vortrage beginnen mit einer Bestandsaufnahrne unter der Uberschrift "Biometrie heute". Sitzungsthemen sind "Notwendige mathematische Grundlagen zum Biometrie-Unterricht fur Nicht-Mathematiker", "Zusarn- menfassung von Versuchsserien", "Analyse topografisch dargestellter Daten: Probleme und L6sungsansatze", "Seltene Ereignisse", "Skalie- rungsprobleme" und zahlreiche "Freie Vortrage". Die Vortrage in den Workshops "Populationsgenetik", "EDV" und "Landwirtschaftliche Feld- versuche" sind nicht in den Proceedings enthalten, ebenso wie die AbschluBveranstaltung, die in Form einer Podiumsdiskussion das Thema "Biometrie morgen" behandelt. Es ist uns mit diesem Band erstmals gelungen, die Langfassungen von Vortragen eines deutschen biometrischen Kolloquiums zum Tagungszeit- punkt nahezu vollstandig gedruckt vorzulegen. Inwieweit dies die Tagung selbst und die weitere Nutzung fordert, mogen die Teilnehmer und Leser entscheiden.
