Volume 3 of Bioreaction Engineering covers the general principles and techniques of bioprocess monitoring and their application for various bioprocesses. Methods based on the author's long standing experience working with various bioprocesses are applied within the book. This book deals with the monitoring of batch and perfusion cultivations of animal cells and production of monoclonal antibodies with hybridoma cells, Antithrombin III with BHK and CHO cells and ? -galactosidase with insect cells. Karl Schügerl is a Hungarian chemical engineer. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He also was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Budapest University. In 1992 vol. 46 of the Springer book series Advances in Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology was dedicated to Karl Schügerl's 65th birthday.
