It's 1805 and Noah is in Montana on an expedition...the expedition... with a Shoshone teenager named Sacagawea, as well as Lewis and Clark and The Corps of Discovery. But, Noah soon finds out, this is no every day hike. It's cold, it's rocky and there's a lot at stake...including an attempt to find a waterway from the Atlantic to the Pacific, requested by the President of the United States himself...Thomas Jefferson. Noah can't help but admire Sacagawea: she's hiking across the country...with a newborn baby strapped to her back! She also has a keen sense of direction and positive attitude - despite being kidnapped years earlier. On her journey west, Sacagawea will finally see her family once again -- her tribe has the horses needed for her crew to continue their expedition. A deal is made over a campfire meal of a Noah-provided snack - s'mores - and the crew is able to get the horses they need. But there are capsized boats, mosquitos, flash floods and high fevers to contend with. Noah does what he can to help, including lending Sacagawea his inflatable air mattress to rest, but they need to find their way west and Noah needs to find his way back home.

"Ms. Pitino says that we can learn from everyone, not just who we think we want to learn from."

"That's the thing with our adventures: we often have these glamorous versions of our trailblazers in our heads but, more-often-than-not, they've had these hard-to-understand, difficult childhoods."
