This new edition is the first true "Study Bible" type text of the Book of Enoch. It seeks to include information relevant to a general reader up to a scholar specializing in 1 Enoch. This highly accurate engaging text (First Century Version) of 1 Enoch, was painstakingly derived in its entirety from primary sources, as translated by elite scholars in the field, and is the most up to date text available. Scholars referenced include Charles, Milik, Heiser, Charlesworth, Isaac, Black, Wise, Cook, Nickelsburg, VanderKam, Olson, Boccaccini, Wright, Stuckenbruck, Tiller, Sacchi, Flint and many others. The 2267 footnotes include alternate readings, commentary, and relevant scholarly quotes. The approximately 5000 external cross references supply links to the Old Testament, New Testament, Apocrypha, Dead Sea Scrolls, second temple literature, first and second century AD Jewish writings, Josephus, Christian Church fathers and rabbinic texts. Thousands of internal cross references are also included. Each section is introduced with author, date, and other information particular to that book. Numerous breakout articles are included. The appendix includes the most extensive subject and scripture indexes ever developed for the Book of Enoch.

The standard 1912 Charles Edition of 1 Enoch is obsolete due to the discovery and publication of the Aramaic Dead Sea Scrolls fragments in 1976, and the Chester Beatty Greek Papyri (AD 4th century) of chapters 97-107 discovered in 1930. In addition, scores of Ethiopic texts have been discovered since 1912, and over a century of scholarship investigating 1 Enoch has occurred. These discoveries have been incorporated into this text and footnotes.

The goal of this edition is for readers to understand this important text that continues to shape our world through its widespread but mostly unrecognized influence. To understand what Jesus Christ taught, and who He claimed to be, Bible readers need to understand The Book of Enoch.
