As a practicing educator for 15 years, Dr. Maggie McHugh has taught in a project-based learning environment for the past 9 years focusing on ways to incorporate meaningful projects into the mathematics classroom. A National Faculty member of PBLWorks (formerly the Buck Institute for Education), Maggie consults with educators across the United States and beyond. As a social justice educator, Maggie is a contributor to Corwin's new "Lessons to Explore, Understand, and Respond to Social Injsutice" series. She is an active member of the Wisconsin Mathematics Council where she has served as a board member and is current the conference co-chair for our WMC Annual Conference. Maggie is also an active member of NCTM and TODOS Mathematics for All. Maggie was voted the 2019 Wisconsin Middle School Teacher of the Year and was a 2019 Wisconsin PAEMST State Finalist. She holds a doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from New Mexico State University, with an emphasis in Social Justice Mathematics.
