Charles Allan Lawson was born in 1838 and a Knight bachelor. He was the editor of the British newspaper. During his stay in British India when Warren Hastings was the Governor, he was very active and served the cause of the native Indian by keeping their welfare in mind. He was posted in Madras where he collected data and information to compile a book on Memoirs of Madras (1905). He wrote also other books in British and Native Cochin, At Home on Furlough, and The Private Life of Warren Hastings.
