Darin wird versucht, durch Naturbeobachtung die Vollkommenheit Gottes zu beweisen. Auch wenn zahlreiche Literaturgeschichten Brockes' Texte als poetisch 'monoton' oder gar 'ermüdend' betiteln, ist er doch in jeder Hinsicht ein ideengeschichtlich "markanter Wegweiser innerhalb der weltanschaulichen Grabenkämpfe der Frühaufklärung" und damit kulturhistorisch äu erst relevant. Denn er nutzt für seine Zeit auf einzigartige Weise die Poesie als Werkzeug der methodischen Annäherung von orthodox-theistischem Gottesglauben und modernem Wissenschaftsverständnis. Daher wird in dieser Arbeit gefragt, inwiefern sich in Brockes' Gedichten besonders signifikant die kulturhistorischen Merkmale der Physikotheologie finden und welches Verständnis von Glaube und Natur sich daraus ableiten lässt.
