Dieses Buch stimmt inhaltlich iiberein mit meiner Dissertation "Zum dynamischen Verhalten von Seilbriicken unter Windeinwirkung", mit der ich im Juli 1991 an der Fakultat fUr Bauingenieur- und Vermessungswesen der Universitat Stuttgart promovierte. Die Dynamik der Briicken und insbesondere das Problem windindu- zierter Schwingungen gewinnt angesichts der zunehmenden Kiihnheit heutiger Bau- werke standig an praktischer Bedeutung; so entstand auch die Idee zu dieser Arbeit wahrend meiner beruflichen Tatigkeit im Briickenbau. Das Thema der Dissertation wird somit fiir einen grofieren Kreis der Fachoffentlichkeit von Interesse sein. Das vorliegende Buch, herausgegeben yom Verlag Vieweg, solI diesem Umstand Rech- nung tragen. Herr Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E. h. Jorg Schlaich, Direktor des lnstituts fUr Trag- werksentwurf und -konstruktion der U niversitat Stuttgart, unterstiitzte und betreute mein Dissertationsvorhaben und fertigte den Hauptbericht an. Ais Diskussionspart- ner und Mitberichter konnte Herr Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dieter DinkIer yom hiesigen lnstitut fUr Statik und Dynamik der Luft- und Raumfahrtkonstruktionen gewonnen werden. Herr Dr.-Ing. Giinter Schwarz, Leiter der Gasdynamischen Versuchsanla- gen der Universitat Stuttgart, begleitete und forderte meinen Arbeitsfortschritt in mehreren langen Gesprachen. Er unterstiitzte die Arbeit der Berichter durch die Erstellung eines Gutachtens. Unschatzbare Hilfe erfuhr ich durch die Angehorigen des lnstituts fUr Tragwerks- entwurf und -konstruktion, von denen einige stellvertretend genannt seien. Herr Dipl.-Ing. Knut Gabriel, Leiter der Arbeitsgruppe "Zugbeanspruchte Konstruk- tionen", gewahrte mir stete ideelle, organisatorische und fachliche Unterstiitzung.
