BUSH CONNECTIONS - A Vietnam Conscript's Memoir

His story is compelling, leavened by wry humour and timely anecdotes as he faces down challenge and adversity to find fulfilment in a life of advocacy and service to his country and community. Along the way, he finds again a peaceful haven in his beloved bush.

Moss, Kevin: - Kevin Moss was born in Brisbane, Australia in February 1948. His first wife of 24 years, Dorothy, is mother to his two children, Greg aged 49, whose daughter Cara is aged 10, and Wendy aged 47, whose son Jake is aged 16. Kevin and Dorothy divorced in 1994.His second wife, Jillian, a medical practitioner, did not have children. He divorced from her after 20 years. Kevin lives in retirement with his companion of 8 years, Jenny, a retired pharmacist.In 1968 Kevin was obliged to register for compulsory military service during the Vietnam war. He spent one year with Army Aviation at the Australian Task Force at Nui Dat in Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam, from October 1969 to September 1970. He returned to Australia and was discharged from the Army, having completed his 2 years' service. He later returned to the Army and served a further 20 years.In 1991 he left the Army after 23 years' service, then he purchased and developed a 238-acre mountain forest country block to breed cattle, southeast of Brisbane, near the town of Boonah. He then spent 5 years doing volunteer community work assisting drought-stricken farmers, and a further 26 years (to date) as a social and financial advocate for war veterans and their widows.Kevin has retired to the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane, where he enjoys writing, fishing, lapidary, and travelling; mostly caravanning around Australia prior to Covid, then within Queensland during border closures. He has travelled extensively over the years to mainly the UK, Ireland, Europe, and Asia. He is a Life Member of both the Australian Army Aviation Association (since 2017), and the Returned and Services League of Australia (since 2011).
