L'amore per Acerra, la città in cui è vissuto fin dalla prima giovinezza l'autore, è maturato gradualmente e direttamente attraverso il contatto quotidiano con la gente e con i problemi espressi di volta in volta da quell'ambiente. L'amore per San Lucido, invece, sembra maturato subitaneamente. È amore gemmato da un altro amore, sbocciato per una sorta di proprietà transitiva. L'amore per la bella ragazza calabrese che, appena conosciuta, gli accende in petto il sacro fuoco della passione e della dedizione esclusiva, gli fa amare tutto quello che lei ama, gli fa sentire subito la più viva simpatia e la più tenera considerazione per la terra e la gente della Calabria, alle quali lei è legata da un affetto profondo.

Bartolo Stellato, nato a Macerata Campania, ha vissuto ad Acerra. Ha insegnato lettere in scuole di Napoli e Provincia ed è stato preside incaricato. Impegnato in politica, è stato anche amministratore pubblico e assessore. Ha fondato e diretto nel dopoguerra il giornale satirico "La Lampana" ed è stato per diversi anni corrispondente locale per il giornale "Il Mattino". In rappresentanza della città di Acerra, ha partecipato alla storica trasmissione televisiva della Rai "Campanile Sera". Ha condotto, per alcuni anni, trasmissioni culturali sulle televisioni locali. É stato, inoltre, tra i fondatori e presidente del circolo culturale "Acerra Nostra". Ha pubblicato con la casa editrice Sansone tre libri di novelle, ambientate nel napoletano: "Un Paese così" (2004), "Il braciere" (2005), "I racconti della notte" (2007). Esce ora postumo Calabria Amena.
