La problématique des risques naturels en général, et des inondations en particulier est un sujet d'actualité qui marque une action mémorable dans le monde et spécifiquement en Algérie, notamment au regard des dernières grandes crues catastrophiques. En effet, la gestion de ce risque devient de plus en plus une nécessité qui doit inclure tous les acteurs et tous les moyens disponibles possibles. Dans ce travail, on a exposé la cartographie de l'aléa inondation par l'approche de la modélisation hydraulique à travers l'exemple de l'Oued Mekerra - Sidi Bel Abbès et en appuyant sur la contribution des systèmes d'information géographique et de la modélisation hydraulique. Cette cartographie est un moyen très efficace dans le cadre d'une gestion efficiente; elle peut servir comme document de base aux pouvoirs publics pour définir les règles générales concourant à une meilleure gestion de l'espace urbain, tout en constituant un moyen d'information de la population concernant les risques d'inondations et un outil d'organisation aux décideurs qui sont pas forcément techniciens, et dont à eux appartient le choix final de la stratégie de lutte contre le risque inondation.
