Follow a young boy named Casey as he learns about composting and what it can do to provide nutrition to plants and reduce waste. After assessing the sad condition of the plants at his school, Casey decides to take matters into his own hands by collecting food waste from fellow students. Supportive adults in Casey's life recognize his passion and help him to make composting a school-wide policy that inspires the town to follow suit.


After the story, this book contains compost instructions, illustrations of compostable items, a composting chart and a list of suggestions to help reduce waste.

Bright, Bonnie: - Bright studied Fine Arts at UC Santa Barbara and Illustration at Cal State Long Beach. Shortly after graduating, she was hired to illustrate backgrounds and animate characters for educational computer games. That launched a fifteen-year, full-time career in computer games. In recent years, Bright has been fully focused on her career in illustration and has successfully illustrated more than twenty children's books. She gives back by volunteering at elementary schools, teaching animation, mural painting and book making. In her spare time, she tends to an organic vegetable and berry garden, paddles, runs, lifts, hikes and plays volleyball.
