In diesem Buch wird die Idee der computerunterstützten Übersetzung (CAT) in der Arbeit der lokalen Übersetzer aufgegriffen. Zunächst wird das gesamte Konzept von CAT und CAT-Programmen erläutert, beginnend mit der Geschichte der ersten CAT-Programme und -Software und ihrer Entwicklung bis heute. Anschlie end wird die Idee vorgestellt, lokale Übersetzer und ihre Tools anzusprechen. Der Ansatz basiert auf einer Umfrage, die vor Ort durchgeführt und über das Internet an Übersetzer gesendet wird. Sie umfasst 15 Fragen in Form eines Fragebogens. Das Ergebnis wird in mehreren Diagrammen dargestellt, die die Präferenzen der lokalen Übersetzer sowie die Gründe dafür zeigen, warum sie ein bestimmtes CAT-Programm verwenden und nicht ein anderes oder vielleicht gar keines. Und schlie lich wird auf der Grundlage der Ergebnisse der Umfrage eine Schlussfolgerung gezogen. Die Arbeit ist in zwei Teile gegliedert. Im ersten Teil wird die Geschichte der CAT-Programme und ihre wesentlichen Funktionen beschrieben, die im Übersetzungsprozess von entscheidender Bedeutung sind. Im zweiten Teil werden die Umfrage und die Antworten der lokalen Übersetzer wiedergegeben, und die Arbeit schlie t mit der Analyse und der Schlussfolgerung.
