Inhaltsangabe: Gang der Untersuchung: Die vorliegende Arbeit verfolgt das Ziel, die Chancen einer Strombörse mit Standort Deutschland und deren Signalwirkungen zu beurteilen. Dabei wird am Beginn auf wettbewerbstheoretische Grundlagen, wie dem Konzept des natürlichen Monopols und drei unterschiedliche Deregulierungsmodelle eingegangen. Die beiden NTPA-Modelle werden in der deutschen Umsetzung der EU-Richtlinie als mögliche Umsetzungsmodelle erwähnt und das Poolmodell findet sich zumindest ansatzweise in später vorgestellten Strombörse wieder. Das 3. Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit der Struktur und den rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen der Elektrizitätswirtschaft. Die Rahmenbedingungen werden dabei sowohl vor als auch nach der Liberalisierung kurz beleuchtet. Im 4. Kapitel werden zuerst mit Nord Pool, APX und CalPX real existierende ausländische Strombörsen vorgestellt. Eventuelle Lehren für Deutschland aus diesen Strombörsen werden aufgezeigt. Weiter werden die beiden deutschen Strombörsenkonzepte (EEX und LPX) vorgestellt. Zum Abschluss wurde eine Befragung bei 6 Energieversorgungsunternehmen durchgeführt, mittels derer Ergebnisse eine Tendenz ersichtlich werden soll, welche Erwartungen diese Unternehmen an eine deutsche Strombörse haben und welche Chancen sie ihr einräumen.
