Die Franchise-Branche in Deutschland ist in den letzten Jahren kontinuierlich gewachsen. Mit etwa 1.000 Franchisesystemen zählt Deutschland in Europa zu den führenden Ländern mit den meisten Franchisebetrieben. Zu den häufigsten Branchen zählen Dienstleistungen (ca. 45%), Handel (ca. 25%), Gastronomie (ca. 18%) gefolgt von Handwerkskonzepten (ca. 12%). Aktuell treten in Deutschland rund 76.500 Franchisenehmer auf, die durch das stetige Wachstum und die Erschlie ung neuer Märkte etwa 525.000 Arbeitsplätze geschaffen haben. Als im Jahr 2003 der Umsatz noch bei rund 25 Mrd. Euro lag, wurden 2013 Umsätze von rund 62,8 Mrd. Euro erzielt. In naher Zukunft kann man davon ausgehen, dass dieser Trend anhält. Ein Existenzgründer hat die Wahl zwischen der Realisierung seiner eigenen Geschäftsidee oder dem Erwerb eines bereits bestehenden und bewährten Konzeptes. Der Franchisegeber bietet dem Gründer wichtige Faktoren wie regionale Exklusivität, professionelles Marketing, betriebswirtschaftliche Unterstützung und eine Betreuung im Gesamtpaket sowie im Markteinstieg. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Studienarbeit ist es, die Vorteile sowie die Nachteile von Franchising aus Sicht des Franchisenehmers und des Franchisegebers darzustellen um herauszufinden, ob das System eine Alternative zur klassischen Existenzgründung bietet.
