""Chantecler Play in Four Acts"" is a play written by the French playwright Edmond Rostand. The play is set in a barnyard and follows the story of a rooster named Chantecler who believes that his crowing is responsible for the rising of the sun. However, when a cunning fox named Pertinax enters the barnyard, Chantecler's beliefs are challenged and he must confront the reality of his situation. The play explores themes of pride, perception, and the power of belief. It is divided into four acts and features a cast of animal characters, including hens, ducks, and a peacock. ""Chantecler Play in Four Acts"" is considered a classic of French literature and has been adapted into various forms, including an opera and a ballet.1910. Rostand was a French dramatist whose plays represent the final flowering of the 19th-century romantic tradition. His greatest work, Cyrano de Bergerac was a dazzling popular success and remains a worldwide favorite to this day. One of Rostand's earlier works, The Romancers has been adapted as the highly successful musical comedy The Fantasticks, the longest running musical in theater history.
