Photographer Graham Chapman spent a decade walking around Chicago with a camera in hand, capturing people as they moved around the city, whether on foot, public transit, car, or bike. Chicago in Transit is the culmination of that visual exploration. Some subjects are weary, others alert; some engaged in conversation, others immersed in music, books, or simply their own reflections.

Featuring over 125 color photographs, Chicago in Transit is organized by time of day, from early mornings to late nights, each photograph marked with its neighborhood and timestamp. The images are intimate without intrusion, brief moments that reflect the solitude and shared connection people feel while moving around a city.

About The Author

Graham Chapman is a photographer, video editor, and content creator based in Chicago. In 2013, he bought his first camera, and what began as a tool for video work soon exposed him to the beautiful world of photography. He was hooked. The excitement of capturing a fleeting expression, a passing shadow, or a brief exchange that might otherwise go unnoticed kept his finger constantly on the shutter button.

Since then, Graham has spent countless hours walking the streets of Chicago and beyond with his camera in hand, drawn to the city's rhythm, architecture, and energy. His work is rooted in street photography -- honest and unfiltered, yet deeply intentional. Each image is an observation of everyday life: moments that unfold and disappear in the same breath. His approach is less about staging and more about discovery -- being present, paying attention, and finding beauty in the ordinary. What began as a personal exploration has grown into a community of over 40,000 followers who connect with his way of seeing the world.

For Graham, "stepping into the street" means stepping into the world. His camera a constant companion, he has cast his eye and lens all about the globe. From the American Midwest to the streets of Mexico, to the historic landmarks of Europe and Asia, his passion for capturing something new and savoring these fragments of life remain a driving force in his photographic journey.

Beyond the lens, he dedicates his time to his family and enjoys disconnecting from the digital world through reading, running, and chasing a little white ball around big open fields of grass.
