Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2023 im Fachbereich Politik - Thema: Deutsche Au enpolitik, Note: 2,7, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Arbeit untersucht, wie stark die Bundesrepublik ihre politischen Reaktionen auf das von der Volksrepublik China initiierte Projekt der Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) mit den europäischen Partnern (auf Unions- und Staatenebene) abstimmte. Unter Berücksichtigung von Primärdaten werden vier Fälle (Chinas Wirken in Drittmärkten, Chinas Gründung der AIIB, Chinas Diplomatie in Europa und Chinas Investitionsstrategie) analysiert und die jeweilige deutsche Vorgehensweise mit den Konzepten der Kooperation, Hegemonie und des Imperialismus diskutiert. Als Ergebnis wird festgehalten, dass die Bundesrepublik anfänglich wenig Koordinationsbemühungen vornahm, diese jedoch im Verlauf der Zeit immer stärker wurden, so dass man von einer Europäisierung der deutschen Chinapolitik sprechen kann. Deutschlands "langer Weg nach Westen" schien mit dem Voranschreiten des europäischen Integrationsprojekts an einem Ende angekommen. Aber als sich deutsche und europäische Interessen während der Eurokrise widersprachen, entschied sich Berlin gegen Europa. Dieser "europapolitische Sündenfall" prüfte das deutsche Selbstverständnis. Für Kundnani und Wirtensohn stellte sich die Frage: War dies Vorbote einer "postwestlichen deutschen Au enpolitik?" Besonders relevant ist dies mit Blick auf China. Mochte auch eine Zweckehe mit der Volksrepublik wirtschaftlich äu erst rentabel sein, so war der "Berlin-Beijing nexus" ein Prüfstein für die Vision, die der damalige Kommissionspräsident Jean-Claude Juncker (2018) als "Weltpolitikfähigkeit" der EU bezeichnete.
