Chippy, a three-year-old chipmunk, is playing in the forest when he discovers a hut, a stinky wooden box, a woman, and a boy. He scampers home to tell his mommy. When he ventures back out to play in the river, his mommy says to come right home if he sees any more people. Chippy is splashing around when he sees the boy on a chair in the river. He runs right into his friend Fawnzi, Mrs. Doe, and Mr. Buck, and tells his deer friends about the boy. The deer are frightened, but tell Chippy that they had better leave the boy alone because people might be afraid of animals. Chippy runs home to his mommy and falls asleep on the doorstep, exhausted from his adventures with the boy in the forest.
