El desempeño de las organizaciones, esencial para la sociedad y la economía, depende en buena medida de la forma en que se organizan las tareas y como se las coordina; en otras palabras, como se diseñe su estructura. La estructura es algo más que una representación formal de la organización; su diseño efectivo dependerá de lograr la congruencia entre ciertos recursos técnicos disponibles y los factores situacionales propios de cada organización y del entorno en el cual se desenvuelve. Esta obra trata los temas teóricos y prácticos del diseño organizacional y los presenta en una forma útil y accesible tanto para el ámbito académico como para la práctica empresaria. Los distintos módulos temáticos se integran en mapas que proponen cuatro caminos alternativos para la lectura: uno inicial, donde se presentan los conceptos básicos acerca de la estructura; a éste le siguen tres alternativos: la teoría del diseño, la práctica del diseño y, finalmente, las distintas formas de estructura. JUAN JOSÉ GILLI es Doctor en Ciencias Económicas por la Universidad de Buenos Aires, donde se desempeña como Profesor Titular Consulto, Director del Departamento de Doctorado e investigador. Dicta cursos de doctorado y posgrado en universidades argentinas y del exterior. Profesionalmente participó de tareas de auditoría y consultoría en importantes empresas, en organismos públicos y en proyectos de organismos internacionales. Como autor o coautor ha publicado trece libros sobre temas de management, entre los cuáles, el más reciente es Ética y Empresa de ediciones Granica y también de múltiples artículos y presentaciones a congresos. Obtuvo el premio a la Vocación Académica otorgado por la Fundación El Libro en 2008, la Faja de Honor instituida por la Academia Nacional de Ciencias de la Empresa en 2009 y el premio a la Trayectoria Profesional en Ciencias Económicas, otorgado por el Consejo Profesional de Ciencias Económicas en 2011.
