About The Book

Author and artist Amanda Seyderhelm was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on her 40th birthday. In this unflinching memoir she reveals how she created a healing path where she found her voice which ultimately enabled her cure and survival. The book is entitled Coming to my Senses: Finding my Voice through Ovarian Cancer and contains 22 of Amanda's full-colour paintings. Amanda says of Coming to my Senses: "The book tells the story of my healing path and transformation. A pre-IVF scan which revealed the cancer changed the direction of my life. I chose to fight to save my life, but this denied me the opportunity to be a mother. Painting gave me a place to express my grief and crucially find my voice that I used to heal and transform my life." 30% of women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer do not survive beyond 5 years. The book offers a rare insight into a patient's survival at a time when a medical cure is some way off, The book will appeal to any woman coping with a cancer diagnosis who is looking for inspiration and self-help. 10% of proceeds from the book will be donated to Ovarian Cancer Action (www.ovarian.org.uk) the UK's leading ovarian cancer charity which funds research into ovarian cancer, raises awareness of the disease and gives a voice to women affected by it.

About The Author

Amanda Seyderhelm is an award-winning publisher, author and Therapeutic Arts & Play Practitioner. She writes childrens' books, and works with children and adults to find the fullest expression for their voice through play, therapeutic storytelling and social enterprise. Amanda lives in Lincolnshire with her husband, Peter.
