About The Book

In view of serious limitations on horizontal expansion of land and agriculture to cater the demand of rapidly expanding population, the only alternative left is vertical expansion through integrating various farm enterprises resulting in high productivity and ensuring periodic income. Integrated farming system is a synthesis of our age-old traditional knowledge and modern scientific techniques. Way back in sixties traditional technologies could no longer expand the farm productivity which led to the adoption of high external input based agricultural system. Initially, green revolution hiked the productivity of our farmland and country's food stored swelled for few decades and all of a sudden this HEIA reported decline in productivity. Rampant use of synthetic inputs resulted in steady decline in organic matter and poisoned our soils petering out the hope of sustainability in Agriculture. This emphasized the importance of organic farming and farming system to attain sustainability. Being self sufficient in nature these alternatives are less influenced by market fluctuations ensuring stability in farming.Growing importance to alternative farming technologies led to inclusion of "Farming system and Organic Farming for Sustainable Agriculture" in the course curriculum and further having wide scope for different competitive examinations in the field of Agriculture. Now-a-days competitive examinations are objective based examinations which requires regular target oriented practice of different question banks. Keeping in view the desire of the students and lack of availability fully compiled question bank in this subject led to the development of this present book.
