Longtemps rest�s en marge des activit�s �conomiques dans une soci�t� � vocation agricole, les espaces aquatiques en Afrique subsaharienne sont inlassablement apparus comme des milieux sans ma�tre. Ce n'est qu'au milieu du XIX�me si�cle, parall�lement � la Conf�rence de Gen�ve sur le droit de la mer (1958-1960), que les premiers textes r�gissant ces zones vont voir le jour. Cette approche tardive de la gouvernance des espaces aquatiques, rythm�e de crises politico-militaires, sanitaires et climatiques, engendre une diversit� de syst�mes de gestion parfois en interaction � l'instar des recherches propos�es dans le Tome 1. Concomitamment � ces faiblesses, l'on assiste notamment dans le Tome 2, � des installations et exploitations incontr�l�es de populations � l'int�rieur et sur les pourtours desdits espaces.
Le premier volume de l'ouvrage fait une analyse de la gouvernance des milieux aquatiques en abordant non seulement les strat�gies de gestion et d'utilisation des zones aquatiques mais en proposant �galement des m�thodes de mise en valeur desdites zones pour un d�veloppement harmonieux. Il se propose ainsi de procurer aux lecteurs et d�cideurs, un ensemble d'informations relatives � la question de gestion et d'utilisation durable des espaces aquatiques.

Koffié-Bikpo, Céline Yolande: - KOUADIO Nanan K. Félix est Enseignant-Chercheur à l'Université Peleforo GON COULIBALY. Ressortissant de Koguinan/Dimbokro (Centre de la Côte d'Ivoire), Nanan est spécialiste de l'aquaculture mais s'intéresse également à la gestion et à la valorisation des milieux aquatiques en général. Il est membre du laboratoire: Littoral, Mer, Sécurité Alimentaire et Transport (LIMERSAT) et Directeur du Comité de Recherche sur l'Eau, la Santé et l'Alimentation des Territoires (CRESAT).

AFFESSI Adon Simon est originaire d'Adzopé (Sud de la Côte d'Ivoire). Il est Enseignant-Chercheur à l'université Peleforo GON COULIBALY. AFFESSI a pour axes de recherche: genre et autonomisation, environnement et développement durable, foncier. Il est consultant auprès des organismes du Système des Nations Unies.
