"Jedem Kind ein Instrument" ist ein Projekt im Ruhrgebiet, das bis zum Jahr 2010 jedem Grundschüler ermöglichen soll, ein selbst gewähltes Instrument zu erlernen. Für weiterführende Schulen ist zu überlegen, ob die Forderung nicht "Jedem Schüler einen Computer" hei en könnte. Denn mit dem breiten Angebot von Musiksoftware zur heutigen Zeit kann man inzwischen jeden Computer in ein Musikinstrument verwandeln. Musik aufzunehmen, zu bearbeiten, oder durch den Computer Musik erstellen zu lassen, ist in der heutigen Zeit mit der richtigen Software durch wenige Mausklicks möglich. Was die Schüler mitbringen müssen? Erfahrung im Umgang mit dem Computer, die die Schüler von heute ohnehin haben, oft sogar mehr als der Lehrer. Eine musikalische Vorbildung ist jedoch nicht unbedingt notwendig, da der Computer die Musik macht. Mit Band-in-a-Box kann der Schüler ein paar Akkorde eingeben, einen passenden Stil auswählen und im Handumdrehen hat der Schüler seinen eigenen Song geschaffen. Vielleicht ist das nicht die Art von Musik, die die Politiker im Rahmen des Projekts "Jedem Kind ein Instrument" gefordert haben, jedoch ist das Ergebnis ähnlich: Motivation und die Erfahrung selbst Musik machen zu können. Diese Arbeit soll nun nach Klärung des Softwarebegriffs veranschaulichen, wie im Musikunterricht das Programm Band-in-a-Box eingesetzt werden kann.
