Erst der Computer gab Anstol1 ftiT die Behand- lung allgemeiner Fragen, wie etwa der Methodik des Planens und Handelns oder der Organisation komplexer Systeme. Die dadurch gewonnenen Erkennt- nisse kannen auch in vielen anderen Disziplinen angewandt werden. Mage dieses Buch einen Beitrag dazu leisten, dal1 bei einem wei ten Leserkreis Inter- esse fUr dieses neue Wissensgebiet geweckt wird. Manfred Brockhaus Vorwort Dieses Buch ist aus- meiner "Einflihrung in die Datenverarbeitung", erschienen 1976, hervorgegangen. Es wendet sieh sowohl an Studierende der Informatik und aller anderen Studienrichtungen, die in irgendeiner Form mit Datenver- arbeitung konfrontiert sind, als auch an all jene, die beruflich mit Computem zu tun haben und ihre praktische Erfahrung auf eine Basis fundierter Allgemein- kenntnisse stellen wollen. In der vorliegenden Darstellung wurde der rasanten technologischen Entwicklung von Computersystemen in den letzten Jahren Rechnung getragen; die Kapitel fiber den Aufbau von Prozessoren, Speiehem und peripheren Gerliten wurden dem letzten Stand. der Technik angep t. Insbesondere Mikroprozessoren und Kleincomputer mit den angeschlossenen Bildschirmen, Diskettenstationen, Winchesterplatten und Druckem werden berucksiehtigt. Besonderer Wert wird auf die Erlliuterung der zugehorigen Fachbegriffe gelegt, die auch im Glossar zusammengestellt sind.
