Inhaltsangabe: Einleitung: Die Fähigkeit, sich in fremden Sprachen zu verständigen, wird für immer mehr Menschen durch die zunehmend globalisierenden Wirtschaftsbeziehungen in vielen Branchen beruflich notwendig. Der dadurch entstehende Schulungsbedarf ist mit herkömmlichen Weiterbildungsma nahmen jedoch nicht immer zu decken. Daher planen mehr und mehr Unternehmen, den Computer als Lehr- und Lernunterstützendes Medium einzusetzen und betreten damit einen Bereich, der durch seine Vielfalt an Angeboten beeindruckt. Dieses Angebot ist schwer zu überschauen und es gibt wenige ma gebliche Entscheidungshilfen bei der Auswahl eines geeigneten Programms. Häufig werden Informationen zu einem Lernprogramm nur über die Beschriftung der Verpackung gegeben. Die dabei verwendeten Worthülsen sind allerdings wenig aussagekräftig und geben kaum Anhaltspunkte für eine abwägende Entscheidungsfindung. Häufig wird hier noch nicht einmal die Zielgruppe eingegrenzt, was sogar bei Brettspielen zu einem Standard geworden ist. Gang der Untersuchung: An diesem Punkt setzt diese Arbeit an, mit dem Ziel einen Weg zu erforschen, der Unternehmen bei der Auswahl eines für ihre Zwecke geeigneten Lernprogramms unterstützen kann. Dazu wird diese Arbeit in zwei Teile - einen Theorie (Kapitel 2 bis 4) und einen Praxisteil (Kapitel 5 bis 7) - untergliedert. Der Theorieteil hat die Aufgabe, die theoretischen Grundlagen zu erkunden, die für eine Beurteilung von Sprachlernsoftware nötig sind. Dazu wird zunächst die Begrifflichkeit systematisiert und definiert um dabei schon erste Anhaltspunkte über dieses Themengebiet zu erhalten (Kapitel 2.1). Daran schlie t eine Analyse bisheriger Forschung über die Lernwirksamkeit von multimedialen Lernanwendungen an (Kapitel 2.2). Der Bezug zu fachdidaktischen Überlegungen für den Englischunterricht wird in Kapitel 3 hergestellt und auf das Lernen mit dem Computer übertragen.
