Pieter Marais has a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of the OFS in South Africa and is a registered psychologist. He completed various business development and consulting training programmes, locally and abroad, including programmes at leading South African and UK universities. He worked in consulting capacity, as business owner and for consulting entities, as well as employment capacity for various companies in the Organisation Strategy, Design and Development domain. In his career he consulted to companies in various industries e.g., resources, finance, media, medical, retail, manufacturing, services, government. He consulted in various countries e.g., USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Peru, Brazil, Chile and various countries in Africa - South Africa, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana and Ghana. He was a co-founder and director of BIOSS South Africa. Business and orgnisational context, the understanding thereof, the implications and the practical application to organisations and people remains key in his approach. Defining the nature of, setting up for and dealing with context, as manifested in e.g. Stratified Systems Theory - an expert domain - is an area he considers critical to successful organisations. He has been and still is actively involved in advancing research and development, as well as facilitating development, in this domain to continue shaping knowledge and application depth. A number of this research as applied to companies and people will be captured in follow-on books. He has an equally passionate interest in Scenario Planning and futures research as he considers this to fit in with the contextual suite of technologies and processes that appropriately focuses and gears successful companies for the future.
