En esa temporalidad ef�mera hay desolaci�n, pero tambi�n esperanza de que al cabo de ese intervalo puede que venga algo mejor, algo por lo que vale la pena esperar, luchar incluso. Cuando Ana y yo hablamos de abrir la convocatoria, cuyo resultado tienen entre manos, quer�amos armar un archivo que documentara las formas en que sobrevivimos colectivamente la hostilidad de estos tiempos. Nos pre-gunt�bamos c�mo estar�an las personas gestionando una multiplicidad de crisis actuales y amenazas continuas, c�mo estar�an cultivando los afectos, la ternura, la comunidad, el arte, para hacer m�s habitable este espacio en el tiempo. Tambi�n es cierto que hab�a cierto fatalismo contundente detr�s de esta iniciativa. Hab�a una necesidad de dejar constancia de lo que parec�a ser el colapso inminente de un sistema insostenible que se mantiene violentamente a cuesta de tantas.

En esta colecci�n de voces hay una mujer insomne que se pregunta c�mo lleg� aqu�, a esta orilla, una mujer desvelada por los miedos que la visitan de noche, hay una mujer que a�ora a un pa�s que se derrumba en la distancia, hay inmigrantes como Joaqu�n, perdidos en la frontera o ahogados en el R�o Bravo y ni�os inmigrantes que no entienden qui�n se queda y qui�n se va. Tambi�n hay hijos de las di�sporas que son muy peque�os para entender cu�nto desear�an sus padres tener un pa�s al que volver. Hay personas que se reprimen por los dem�s y otras que dejan de reprimirse para ser, al fin, quienes son, para dejar de acatar los roles compulsorios del g�nero, de la heterosexualidad. Hay reflexiones sobre el desencantado sue�o americano, el olvido, las mor-dazas, la identidad, la maquinaria colonial y sus repercusiones insulares, las tragedias colectivas, las experiencias de las mujeres y el no conformismo. Pero, tal vez, lo que persiste en esta selecci�n es la b�squeda por la libertad.

En un momento en que la tensi�n social y pol�tica aumentan progre-sivamente parece que ya no se trata de un per�odo delimitado que pasar�, sino de un rasgo dominante de una naci�n que se despliega. Parece que para resistir estos tiempos no bastar� con aguantar la respiraci�n, cerrar los ojos y cruzar los brazos como un escudo sobre el pecho hasta que pase la sacudida violenta de la monta�a rusa seguido por su ca�da repentina. Habr� que ir pensando en otras formas de re-sistir desde esta orilla, de llamar las cosas como son a pesar de la mordaza, de encontrar formas m�s sostenibles para gestionar el miedo, para encontrarle utilidad a la indignaci�n y volver a sentirnos seguros entre la multitud. Ojal� este proyecto sea un paso adelante, un acto simb�lico que nos devuelva la sensaci�n de agencia en un tiempo en que la libertad de ser es un lujo y el �nico futuro que nos pertenece es ahora.
