Coronary Angioplasty: Evolved to Perfection focuses on percutaneous coronary intervention. The chapters, very useful to the ‘beginners’, are balanced with pathophysiology, and intervention in specific conditions, e.g. left main or during acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Evolving and controversial areas of PCI are explored, from chronic total occlusions to left main and triple-vessel PCI. There are chapters devoted to fractional flow reserve (FFR) and its place in decision for PCI, imaging with IVUS and OCT, and to contrast nephropathy. Indications for PCI and potential complications are not forgotten. Bioresorbable stents are introduced and there is a look into future directions. Structural, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology, etc. are not covered, as these areas are well represented in a variety of the current texts.
