An asset to President Ann Kinji in the past, Serena is snatched in Germany and brought back to the United States for a covert mission run by former government agents. Realizing that her participation is not entirely voluntary, she is desperate to complete the mission so that she can be reunited with her family. As the case draws her ever closer to the conspiracy to kill the president, she reaches out to the criminally insane for help, sinking deeper and deeper into a rabbit hole where the bodies are piling up and nothing is as it seems. COVERT COFFEE is book #2 in the Serena Wilcox Mysteries Dystopian Thriller Trilogy (Angels Mark, Covert Coffee, Bluebird Flown). The Serena Wilcox Mysteries are grouped into sets of three books of the same theme. Each trilogy crosses into a different genre or sub-genre as the series takes off in new directions. Covert Coffee is Serena Wilcox Mystery #5 in the overall series (The Serena Wilcox Mysteries) and book #2 in the dystopian trilogy; only book #1 of the trilogy, Angels Mark, is a necessary prequel. The Serena Wilcox Mysteries are hard to classify into a single genre, and are a genre all their own, involving crimes that have never happened because the technology doesn't exist (yet), or because no one has thought to do it. Other features of the series are its offbeat plots (plots-within-plots with many twists, and endings readers can't guess), oddball humor and no graphic violence or sexual content, yet edgy (hardboiled) and contemporary, futuristic, or speculative.
Natalie Buske Thomas is an author, artist and entertainer. She is best known for the Serena Wilcox Mysteries for adult readers and for her oil painting "Savannah Reading in the Butterfly Garden". She also sings, plays instruments and is the writer half of the "Dramatic Mom" comic with her artist daughter Cassandra. Having lost both of her parents, all of her grandparents, two same-age cousins, and others - too soon and too young - Natalie believes that life is short; do what you like. The Serena Wilcox Mysteries is a series Natalie Buske Thomas first published when she was in her 20's. The early books are sold as a three volume set in "The Serena Wilcox Mysteries: Books 1, 2 & 3". Natalie returned to the Serena Wilcox mystery series over a decade after book #3 "Camp Conviction" was published. Her return to the publishing scene was with the debut of "Angels Mark", which hit the bestselling lists on Amazon. Natalie is also the author of the MG science fiction mystery "The Magic Camera". Natalie's oil paintings have been in juried exhibits. Her current paintings are displayed on Pinterest. To learn more about Natalie Buske Thomas, please visit her website.
