This book is designed to provide a comprehensive reference guide to creating an office for disability services, and sustaining this office as well as enhancing this office if it currently exists. Included in this book is information to support students with disabilities from pre-admission stages to their enrollment, retention, and graduation. In addition, not only is the focus of information about these students with disabilities, but there is also specific information regarding office management and leadership skills. The book contributes to the field of special education for college students with disabilities in a college environment and contributes to the literature base that is currently fairly narrow and sparse. The book is a reference guide for all disability service providers in all colleges and provides a large scope, but is still specific enough in depth that all providers could apply the effective strategies offered.

Dr. Stephanie Gaddy has worked in higher education for over 18 years, as a faculty member and as an administrator. She currently is a faculty member in the College of Education at Walden University. Dr. Gaddy has served as an administrator, founding and directing a college's office for disability services and a nationally recognized college program for students with disabilities. She also serves on the Advisory Board and as a contributing author to the Disability Compliance for Higher Education periodical. In her community, Dr. Gaddy is a consultant to the local Housing Authority serving adults with disabilities. Her research interests include the identification of best practices to teach students with disabilities, best practices to improve reading comprehension, the effective administration of college disability services offices, and effective methods to assist transition and retention in the postsecondary environment for students with disabilities. She resides in Illinois with her husband.
