Crossing The Rubicon is themed around HIV/AIDS, the silent epidemic of our time. This work which straddles more on awareness creation and acceptance of victims was competition-induced; activist-conceived; time-constrained; and regulation-bound.
First written in 2006 with the settings of that era, this extended fictional prose drifts away from the now monotonously accepted gospel of ABC (Abstinence, Be faithful & Condomise), to the seemingly socially rejected evangelism of STS (Stop-The-Stigma).
It revolves around bringing into reality, the mutual making of a positive home by two lovebirds of known different statuses, thereby nullifying the myth surrounding a possible union of a positive woman with a non-positive man or vice versa (a situation which even some religious sects disapprove). The mark of integrity was etched on the forehead of the main male character, Obi while the main female character, Ugo left positive footprints on the sands of our time.
Moreover, the book treads on an international pedestal. It also presents the African cultural heritage, Igbo marriage traditions on the stage and still has the shades of the timelines of the two main characters. This is laced with humorous flavour which is unmistakable of the writer. It acts as an elixir to the fact that testing positive to HIV is not a death sentence. It also re-emphasizes the maxim and reiterates on the natural course of Que sera sera! What ever will be, will be.
