Dabei wurden durch das Internet viele Bereiche des privaten und öffentlichen Lebens tiefgreifend modifiziert und revolutioniert. Nun, da das Vertrauen in die neue Technik gestiegen ist, wagen es die Wirtschaftsakteure (finanz-)wirtschaftliche Transaktionen wie den Kauf von hochwertigen Wirtschaftsgütern (bspw. Küchen und Autos) oder Online-Banking über das neue Medium abzuwickeln. Eine der jüngsten Entwicklungen im Bereich von finanzwirtschaftlichen Transaktionen ist die Anschubfinanzierung (Early Stage Financing) von Projekten, Produkten und Unternehmen über das Internet in Form von vielen kleinen monetären Beitragen, genannt Crowdfunding. Die Funktionsweise, die Anreizmechanismen und die ökonomischen Implikationen dieses neuen Marktes sollen in dieser Seminararbeit erörtert und erarbeitet werden. Besonderes Augenmerk liegt auf den Marktunvollkommenheiten, deren Lösungsmechanismen sowie den Risiken, welche der attraktiven Reduktion von Transaktionskosten gegenüber stehen. Weiterhin soll anhand empirischer Ergebnisse überprüft werden, ob Crowdfunding eine Erweiterung oder eine Substitution zu anderen Finanzierungen darstellt und ein Ausblick auf Crowd-Equity gegeben werden.
