Die Untersuchung erfolgt mittels einer Analyse der bestehenden Literatur und empirischer Untersuchungen. Insbesondere sollen die Möglichkeiten für die Crowdworker in der Crowd zu arbeiten, die verschiedenen Motive zur Teilnahme an Crowdsourcing-Aktivitäten, sowie die arbeitsrechtliche Situation und die Einkommensmöglichkeiten der Crowdworker analysiert und dargestellt werden. Hierzu wird zunächst der Begriff Crowdsourcing erläutert, die verschiedenen Ausprägungsformen des Crowdsourcing beschrieben und voneinander abgegrenzt, sowie die Struktur der Crowd dargestellt. Daraufhin wird Crowdsourcing konkret aus der Perspektive der Crowdworker betrachtet. Zuletzt erfolgen eine Zusammenfassung der gesammelten Ergebnisse in Form eines Fazits, sowie ein Ausblick. Die Entwicklung des Internets und das Voranschreiten der Digitalisierung haben zu einer Veränderung verschiedener Bereiche der Gesellschaft, insbesondere auch der verschiedenen Arbeitsformen und des Arbeitsmarktes, geführt. Durch das Internet und der daraus resultierenden Vernetzung wird es Unternehmen ermöglicht, auf gro e Mengen an potenziellen Arbeitskräften zurückzugreifen. Die Unternehmen können sich mit den Internetnutzern verbinden und Aufgaben an diese Nutzer, den Crowdworkern, verteilen. Dieses Phänomen wurde 2006 durch Jeff Howe näher beschrieben. Er führte dabei den Begriff Crowdsourcing ein. Im Jahr 2019 nutzten 84% der 500 umsatzstärksten Unternehmen der USA Crowdsourcing zur Integration einer gro en Menge an Arbeitskräften über das Internet in ihre Wertschöpfungsprozesse.
