Cultural Diversity in Family Life Education helps students improve their understanding of the specific cultural, language, and social and economic nuances of people and families.

Chapter 1 covers race and ethnicity as it relates to individuals. Structural diversity, hegemony, and microaggressions toward people of color are addressed. In Chapter 2, students learn the role class plays in the lives of families, the difference between social class and social status, and how privilege, microassaults, and oppression can manifest according to class. Chapter 3 presents historical and contemporary perspectives on gender and sexual orientation, as well as intersectionality theory. In Chapters 4 and 5, the text explains how religion and ageism factor into the family, alongside discussions of intersectional issues related to these topics. The closing chapter speaks to fathers, fathering, and fatherhood within different societies and intersectional contexts.

The second edition features new readings on misandric microaggressions and racial battle fatigue, gender identity, and consensual gender, as well as new end-of-chapter exercises and content.

Chancler, Lover: - Lover Chancler, B.S.W, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in child and family development and the director of the Center for Multiculturalism and Inclusivity at the University of Central Missouri. She holds a Ph.D. in family studies from Kansas State University.

McClish, Keondria: - Keondria McClish, Ph.D., CFLE is an adjunct instructor of early childhood education at Metropolitan Community College. She holds a Ph.D. in adult and continuing education and teaching from Kansas State University.

Newsom, Kimmery: - Kimmery Newsom, Ph.D., LMFT, CFLE, CSATP is a licensed marriage and family therapist in KS, MN, and WI, and has worked with individuals and couples for 19+ years. Dr. Newsom conducts training and presentations on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for various organizations around the country. She earned her Ph.D. in family studies and human services from Kansas State University.
