Der Cyrogrillus wird beispielsweise im Alten Testament als Tier beschrieben, dessen Verzehr nicht von Gott gebilligt wird. Er ist ebenfalls im Buch der Natur von Konrad von Megenberg vorzufinden. Diese beiden Quellen werden als Grundbasis für die Analyse des Cyrogrillus genutzt. Das Ziel ist es, die allegorischen Bezüge rund um dieses Tier näher zu erörtern und zu analysieren. Es wird die Darstellung im Alten Testament und bei Konrad von Megenberg verglichen. Des Weiteren wird die wechselnde Bezeichnung des Cyrogrillus untersucht. Um die Hermeneutik des Alten Testaments greifbar zu machen, wird in dieser Abhandlung die kritische Erläuterung von Behrens thematisiert. Diese Abhandlung wird die Vorgehensweise der Allegorese als Auslegung eines Textes behandeln, sich jedoch nur auf die wichtigsten Inhalte der hermeneutischen Theorie beschränken.
