Die zunehmende Bedeutung des Asbestzement-Druckrohres im Trinkwasser-, Abwasser-, Gas- und Industrieleitungsbau hat den Wunsch nach einer umfassenden Behandlung aller mit diesem Rohrleitungsmaterial verkn�pften Probleme immer dringlicher werden lassen. Eine zusammen- fassende Darstellung �ber Asbestzement-Druckrohre liegt bisher noch nicht vor. Zwar gibt es zahlreiche Einzelver�ffentlichungen im In- und Ausland, sie liegen jedoch zum gr� ten Teil schon l�nger zur�ck, so da sie dem heutigen Stande vielfach nicht mehr entsprechen. Dar�ber hinaus haben sie meistens auch nur spezielle Probleme zum Inhalt. Aus diesem Grunde trat die ETERNIT Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin an mich heran mit der Bitte, die bestehende L�cke zu schlie en und dem planenden und ausf�hrenden Ingenieur alles 'Wissenswerte �ber das heutige Asbestzement-Druckrohr an Hand zu geben. F�r diese Aufgabe wurde neben der Auswertung der vorhandenen Literatur ein umfangreiches Versuchsprogramm aufgestellt, in dessen Rahmen vielseitige Untersuchungen an Asbestzement- Druckrohren durchgef�hrt wurden. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde dabei gerichtet auf die hydrau- lischen Eigenschaften, die mechanischen Festigkeiten und die 'Widerstandsf�higkeit gegen�ber chemischen Angriffen. vVeiterhin interessierte auch das Verhalten der Asbestzement-Druckrohre in bakteriologischer Hinsicht. Mit R�cksicht auf die Errichtung zahlreicher Reaktoren f�r die: Forschung und Gewinnung von Kernenergie und in Anbetracht der zunehmenden Verwendung radioaktiver Isotope wurde das Versuchsprogramm auch auf radiologische Untersuchungen ausgedehnt. Schlie lich wurden verschiedene alte, seit .Jahren oder schon seit Jahrzehnten unter besonderen Bedingungen in Betrieb befindliche Asbestzement-Druckrohre ausgegraben und n�heruntersucht, sowie Rohre in Abwasserleitungen, die besondere Abw�sser f�hren, eingebaut, um ihren Zustand nach einer gewissen Betriebsdauer festzustellen.
