Der Gro e Wald trägt seinen Namen aus zwei Gründen: Zum einen ist seine Ausdehnung nach allem, was man wei , gewaltig. Zum anderen besitzen die Bäume selbst riesige Ausma e. Die Kronen weiten sich erst hoch oben über den Köpfen der Bewohner. Das dichte Laub sorgt auch bei Tage für ein beständiges weiches Zwielicht. Unter dem Himmel aus lebendigem Grün breitet sich eine Welt aus riesigen Wurzeln und immer wieder neu entstehenden Seen aus. Der gealterte Linbal erinnert sich an diese ganz andere Umgebung, in der die Ausma e allein Begegnungen und Besorgungen zu etwas Besonderem machen, in der Zeit und Entfernung eine andere Bedeutung haben als in der hektischen Stadt aus Stein, in der er nun seit vielen Jahren lebt und lehrt. Der junge Linbal ist ein Lausejunge - draufgängerisch, wagemutig und vor allem laut. Aber die Begegnungen mit einem zurückhaltenden Elfenmädchen beginnen an der Überzeugung des Heranwachsenden Buben zu nagen. Ohne es ihm aufzuzwingen verändert die kleine Elfe die Sichtweise des Jungen sanft aber grundlegend. Auch seine Heimat, die er glaubte so genau zu kennen, eröffnet sich ihm in ganz anderer Weise, während er die Elfe begleitet. So beginnt er ein gutes Stück besser zu verstehen, was sich den Gelehrten Kollegen seiner späteren Jahre nicht erschlie en will: Das Element Leben

About The Author

Nach Jugend und Abitur in Rothenburg o.d.T. (nein, die Stadt an der romantischen Straße war nicht der Auslöser für eine Vorliebe zu fantastischen Welten) studierte Uwe Gleiß Mathematik und Physik für das Lehramt an Gymnasien in Bayern an der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Nach Lehrtätigkeit in Kulmbach und Bayreuth unterrichtet er seit mehreren Jahren an einem Gymnasium seine Fächer und in Wahlkursen auch Computergrafik.
