Dieser Sammelband fa t die Ergebnisse einer internationalen und interdisziplinären Tagung über das protestantische Intellektuellenmilieu Deutschlands zusammen, die vom 29. bis 31. März 2006 an der Universität Paul Verlaine - Metz stattfand. Die hier versammelten Beiträge bilden den vierten und abschlie enden Band eines am Centre d'études germaniques interculturelles de Lorraine durchgeführten Forschungsprojektes, das sich den intellektuellen Milieus in Deutschland vom Ausgang des 19. bis um die Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts widmete. Die Fallstudien zu einer repräsentativen Auswahl von einflu reichen protestantischen Zeitungen und Zeitschriften beschreiben unterschiedliche Strömungen des deutschen Protestantismus sowie Kontinuitäten und Diskontinuitäten der deutschen Geschichte vom Kaiserreich bis in die Ära Adenauer.
Ce recueil est le résultat des travaux d'un colloque international qui a eu lieu à l'Université Paul Verlaine - Metz du 29 au 31 mars 2006. Dédié au milieu protestant allemand, il constitue le quatrième volet d'un programme de recherche du Centre d'études germaniques interculturelles de Lorraine consacré aux milieux intellectuels allemands de la fin du XIXe siècle au milieu du XXe siècle. L'objectif ici est de faire percevoir, à travers des études de cas, la diversité du milieu protestant allemand, tout en mettant en valeur les grandes tendances qui ont existé en son sein à travers un choix de périodiques, journaux et revues dont certains ont exercé une réelle influence. Ces études de cas sont organisées en fonction des turbulences qui ont caractérisé l'évolution de l'Allemagne entre 1871 et 1963.

Uwe Puschner, Privatdozent für Neuere Geschichte und Vertreter der Professur für Neuere deutsche und europäische Geschichte am Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut der Freien Universität Berlin, Autor zahlreicher Publikationen zu Themen der Geschichte des 18. bis 20. Jahrhunderts.
Hans Manfred Bock, Professor an der Universität Kassel, ist Autor zahlreicher Veröffentlichungen über die deutsch-französischen Beziehungen.
