Für den breiteren Leserkreis, der Interesse daran hat, einmal nachzulesen, wie und mit welchen Argumenten Copernicus das (theologisch begründete) alte Weltbild aus den Angeln hob, bietet die vorliegende Ausgabe eine ausführlich kommentierte Auswahl der zentralen Texte, in denen Copernicus seine Entdeckung erklärt und begründet. Gegeben wird das 1. Buch von "Über die Kreisbewegungen der Himmelskörper", in dem Copernicus seine Entdeckung auf den Punkt bringt, vorangestellt sind die kurze Abhandlung "Über die Erklärungsgrundlagen der Bewegungen am Himmel" und der "Brief gegen Werner" - zwei Texte, die für das Verständnis der Genese des von ihm begründeten "Kopernikanischen Weltbilds" von gro er Bedeutung sind. Alle Texte werden zweisprachig (lat.dt.) präsentiert und sachkundig erläutert.

About The Author

Hans Günter Zekl (* 22. Januar 1939; + 15. April 2016 in Korbach) war ein deutscher Klassischer Philologe, Philosophiehistoriker, Übersetzer und Gymnasiallehrer. Nach dem Studium der Klassischen Philologie und Philosophie in Marburg und München wurde Zekl 1968 mit einer Dissertation über Platons Dialog Parmenides an der Universität Marburg promoviert. Ab 1972 unterrichtete er Latein und Ethik an einem Gymnasium. Darüber hinaus arbeitete er als Herausgeber, Übersetzer und Interpret philosophischer Texte der griechischen und römischen Antike sowie der frühen Neuzeit, wiederholt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Marburger Kant-Forscher Klaus Reich (Platon: Timaios; Aristoteles: Organon, Physik, Metaphysik; Cicero; Diogenes Laertios; Porphyrios; Proklos; Martianus Capella; Nicolaus Copernicus; Petrus Ramus; Rudolph Goclenius, von dem er drei akademische Festreden wieder aufgefunden hat; René Descartes). Im Jahr 1990 legte er eine umfangreiche Untersuchung zur aristotelischen Lehre vom Raum vor.
