Dabei beginnt diese Arbeit damit einige wichtige Begriffe zu klären. Danach soll erläutert werden, wie sich das orthodoxe Mönchtum in Westeuropa und in Nordamerika ausgebreitet hat. Hierfür werden aus einigen Ländern auch Beispiele für orthodoxe Klöster beschrieben. Das Ziel dieser Bachelorarbeit ist es, am Ende die folgende Fragestellung beantworten zu können: Welche Besonderheiten findet man im orthodoxen Mönchtum in der Diaspora? Dies soll vor allem auch anhand des Beispiels des Klosters Maria Schutz in Sankt Andrä am Zicksee im Burgenland veranschaulicht werden. Um diese Fragestellung überhaupt beantworten zu können, teilt sich diese Bachelorarbeit wie folgt auf. Den Anfang dieser Arbeit bildet die Klärung einiger wichtiger Begriffe rund um das orthodoxe Mönchtum, die Formen des orthodoxen Klosters und die Ordenshierarchie. Im Anschluss daran folgt ein Kapitel rund um die Verbreitung des orthodoxen Mönchtums in Westeuropa und in Nordamerika am Beispiel von den Ländern Amerika, Frankreich und Deutschland. Dabei kommt nicht nur ein kurzer Überblick über die Orthodoxie in diesen Ländern in den Blick, sondern es wird aus jedem dieser Länder auch ein Kloster beschrieben. Danach folgt natürlich auch noch ein Kapitel, welches sich ausschlie lich auf das Kloster Maria Schutz in Sankt Andrä am Zicksee im Burgenland bezieht. In einem abschlie enden kurzen Resümee soll diese Fragestellung schlie lich beantwortet werden.
