Dafür soll das 2019 erschienene Biopic "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile" von Joe Berlinger über den US-amerikanischen Serienmörder und Vergewaltiger Ted Bundy, der von 1974 bis 1978 mehr als 30 junge Frauen ermordete, beispielhaft herangezogen und betrachtet werden. Dazu soll zunächst die Person Ted Bundy und die von ihm begangenen Verbrechen sowie die Rezeption der Öffentlichkeit dargestellt werden. Im Zuge dessen soll untersucht werden, inwiefern und weshalb eine Faszination und Glorifizierung von Serienmördern seitens der Gesellschaft besteht und welchen Beitrag moderne Massenmedien zu diesem Phänomen beitragen. Anschlie end soll die fiktionale biografische Umsetzung des Falls Ted Bundy im Biopic "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile" analysiert werden. Dabei werde ich explizit auf das Serienmördermotiv im Film eingehen und das Kapitel damit beenden, indem ich die Bedeutung von Biopics für die Gesellschaft darstelle. Darauf basierend soll dann ein Bezug zur realen Fallentwicklung Bundys hergestellt werden. Abschlie end soll ein zusammenfassendes Fazit der Ergebnisse formuliert werden. Geschichten über Verbrecher sind in der Populärkultur nicht mehr wegzudenken. Filme, Dokumentationen und True-Crime Storys über Gangster, Wirtschaftsverbrecher oder Mörder gehören schon seit Langem zum Bestandteil der Medienkultur. Dabei fällt auf, dass diese Verbrecher trotz oder auch gerade aufgrund ihrer kriminellen Tätigkeiten oftmals heroisiert und bewundert werden.
