Statistiken des UN-Flüchtlingshilfswerks UNHCR besagen, dass seit 2015 weltweit 65,3 Millionen Menschen auf der Flucht sind. Ein Jahr zuvor waren es 59,5 Millionen und im Jahr 2011 42,5 Millionen. Insofern ist die Anzahl der weltweit Flüchtenden in den letzten fünf Jahren um mehr als 50 Prozent gestiegen. Die Menschen fliehen aufgrund von Kriegen oder allgemein ungünstigen Lebensbedingungen. Bei den meisten Flüchtenden handelt es sich um Vertriebene innerhalb des Heimatlandes (40, 8 Millionen, 2015). Der restliche Anteil flieht in die Nachbarländer oder macht sich auf den Weg nach Europa. Aufgrund des Sozialsystems und der florierenden Wirtschaft gilt auch Deutschland als ein beliebtes Ziel. Aus den Berichten des UNHCR geht hervor, dass 2015 weltweit zwei Millionen Asylanträge (Erstanträge) eingereicht worden sind. Davon wurden allein rund 442.000 in Deutschland gestellt - mehr als in jedem anderen Land. Von Januar bis November 2016 wurden insgesamt 723.027 Asylanträge vom Bundesamt entgegengenommen, dies bedeutet eine Erhöhung der Antragszahlen um 70,1 Prozent im Vergleich zum Vorjahr desselben Zeitraums (rund 425.000 Asylanträge von Januar bis November 2015). In Anbetracht der aktuellen Entwicklungen in den Hauptherkunftsländern, zu denen unter anderem Syrien und Afghanistan angehören, ist davon auszugehen, dass die Anzahl der Flüchtenden zukünftig weiter steigen wird. Demzufolge gewinnt die Integration dieser Menschen immer mehr an Relevanz und ist zukünftig eine der wichtigsten politischen und gesellschaftlichen Herausforderung. Um ein gemeinsames Miteinander verwirklichen zu können, muss die Integration als ein wechselseitiger Prozes
