Fussball entsteht in diesem Buch dreimal: In der europ�ischen Gesellschaft als subversives und rohes Volksspiel, bereits 1314 in einem Erlass der Obrigkeit als football bezeichnet und verboten, �berlebte es in den Public Schools einer aufstrebenden b�rgerlichen Elite, wurde dort p�dagogisiert und salonf�hig gemacht, von ehemaligen Sch�lern mit einem Regelwerk gez�hmt und in einen Sport und Wettbewerb verwandelt, mit Verb�nden institutionalisiert und mit dem britischen Empire in der Welt verbreitet. Bei mir pers�nlich mit einem zusammengeknoteten Taschentuch in unserer kleinen Wohnung in Z�rich-Albisrieden und, nachdem der Hauswart die Wiesen f�r unsere Leidenschaft freizugeben bereit war, auch vor dem Haus. Mein erster Trainer in unserem Quartierverein machte aus mir einen brutalen Verteidiger, nur durch einen lustigen Zufall wurde ich ein filigraner Mittelst�rmer und bester Torsch�tze. Die Mittelschule und mein Ethnologie-Studium entfremdeten mich dem Milieu des Vereins. Bei den Fussballern galt ich als fauler Student, bei den Akademikern als primitiver Fussballer. In einem Verein: Gerade mal der Schule entwachsen, gr�ndeten 1913 bisher auf Stra en, in Hinterh�fen und illegal auf dem Kasernenareal kickende Jungs aus dem Z�richer Kreis 4 im Restaurant National einen richtigen Fussballverein: den Ballspielclub Z�rich, der nach langer Wanderschaft 1958 in Albisrieden strandete. Das Buch oszilliert zwischen den drei Ebenen und beleuchtet so die Totalit�t eines kulturellen Ph�nomens. Dabei entfalte ich langsam meine These: Amateur-Fussballvereine versuchen, Gleichheit zu schaffen und Ver�nderungen aufzuhalten. Sie erscheinen nicht wie nach kapitalistischen Prinzipien funktionierende Gemeinschaften, weil Gegenseitigkeit gilt, man Geld meidet, sich nicht vergr�ssern will und man sich gegenseitig kennt. Einfluss und Macht wird via Prestige und damit ohne Zwangsmittel geregelt und schliesslich wird ein mythisches Geschichtsverst�ndnis gepflegt. Diese St�mme
