Datenverarbeitungsanlagen sind heute aus dem Hochschulbereich nicht mehr wegzudenken. Viele neue Erkenntnisse konnten erst mit ihrer Hilfe gewonnen werden, viele Forschungsergebnisse hätten ohne sie überhaupt nicht erreicht werden können. Auch fUr die UnterstUtzung von Verwaltungsabläufen in der Hochschule, in Uni- versitätskliniken und Hochschulbibliotheken wird Datenverarbeitung in immer stärkerem a e eingesetzt. FUr die Gestaltung der Datenverarbeitungsstruktur, wie sie heute an den Hochschulen angetroffen wird und für die weitere Entwick- lung gibt es eine Vielzahl von tIöglichkeiten, die sich im einzel- nen in folgenden Punkten widerspiegeln: - Abgrenzung von Aufgaben der Hochschulen, die am Hochschul- rechenzentrum oder auf eigenständi en oder speziellen Rechnern für bestimmte Anwendungen durchgefUhrt Herden (z. B. Rechenan- lagen fUr Lehre, Forschung, Verwaltung, Medizin, Proze daten- verarbeitung) - Organisation von Hochschulrechenzentren (z. B. EinfUgung in die Struktur der Hochschule, Untergliederung des Bochschulrechen- zentrums selbst, Mitwirkung der Benutzer bei Entscheidungen, Benutzungsgebühren) - Zusammenarbeit zwischen Universitäten bei der Bereitstellung von Rechenleistung; Aufbau von Rechnernetzen - Ausstattung der Hochschulrechenzentren mit Rechenanlagen, Per- sonal und Räumen - Ausbauplanungen - Entwicklungstendenzen auf dem Gebiet der Hard- und Software. 2 Der Entwicklungsstand beim Einsatz der Datenverarbeitung im Hochschulbereich ist in der USA trotz gegenteiliger Meinung einiger deutscher Fachleute immer noch höher als in Deutsch- land.
