The pain felt after we lose the love of our life to another, is one of the most difficult and heartbreaking experiences a human being can feel. The method and length of mourning for this lost love is always an individual event. Some may linger for a short period of time and some for months, years, even a lifetime. This book is about my unexpected journey into the world on dating after the breakup of a relationship I thought, like many do, would last a lifetime. The women and the things that happened are absolutely true. You might find some of the stories and events humorous, and even hard to fathom and others, painfully sad.

Stephen Hemmert was born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma. He attended the University of Tulsa and received a B.S. degree in writing for radio and television. In 1980 he moved to the Los Angeles area to pursue a career in music. There he met the woman that would become his wife and the mother of his two children. After leaving the music business, he spent nine years as Vice-President of recruiting and human resources for a marketing company in Hollywood. Upon the sale of the company, Stephen followed his passion and opened a coffee house and bistro in Studio City CA called "Sonoma Blue." That venture lead him back in his love for music and performance. Sadly, the business was forced to close, due to the sale of the building, and his ensuing divorce from his wife of sixteen years. He accepted a job as a marketing rep for a large food distribution company while he reconstructed his shattered life. Forced back into the dating world, he decided to keep memoirs of his newfound freedom and experiences and this is where his book "Dating and the 50-Year-Old Man" was born. He has also written three screenplays and a television pilot. Stephen lives in the rural area of Agua Dulce California where he has a vineyard and makes his own wine, continues to play and write music and waits for the love of his life.
