Je dois et vais le dire clairement: j'ai toujours aimé être la fille de mon papa; le plus déchirant a été de cesser de n'être que cela en lui demandant ce qu'il ne pouvait pas me donner bien qu'il a essayé d'être au moment où j'avais le plus besoin de lui d'abord mon père. Peut-on vivre, créer, se forger ses propres identité et destinée lorsqu'on est la fille d'un monstre sacré qui, prisonnier de son époque, fait le choix de ne pas lui passer le témoin à cause de son genre, de son handicap et de tant de prétextes en lui préférant d'autres conforté par des valeurs villageoises d'un monde archaïque dont il est l'un des derniers survivants ? Telle est la question centrale au coeur de Défigurée, le nouvel ouvrage de Christelle Nadia Fotso. Sa réponse se trouve dans ses écrits sur ses batailles, ses rencontres, ses déchirements, son amour fou pour son père, Victor Fotso, l'amour fou de celui-ci pour Bandjoun et ce long chemin de croix qu'est la fin de vie de ce dernier dont elle ne parvient pas à faire le deuil. En effet, il fait le choix de mourir tel qu'il a commencé, tel qu'il est né, villageois, Bandjoun, un homme incapable d'accepter qu'une femme, même sa fille, peut lui succéder et éventuellement peut-être le dépasser. Il lui préfère un fils, Yves Michel Fotso qu'il qualifie lui-même de raté pourtant conscient que la transmission ne se fera pas et que beaucoup, trop s'effondra après lui. En près de 120 pages, avec une écriture poétique et romantique, Christelle Nadia Fotso évoque son destin de femme compliqué et expose une réalité criante: au Cameroun, en Afrique et ailleurs, des patrimoines inestimables sont gaspillés. Les riches de ces sociétés conservatrices et déstructurées pensent comme des pauvres et n'embrassent ni le progrès ni la modernité lorsqu'il est question de donner la place aux femmes. Elle exorcise le passé douloureux de tous ces enfants, toutes ces filles, toutes ces femmes vulnérables qui ont subit plus ou moins passivement le dictat de ces sociétés et qui aujourd'hui assument enfin pleinement leur désir, leur envie de prendre le pouvoir.
