El libro "Del Gran Circo Pubillones" recoge la historia de un circo creado en la Habana en el siglo XIX, y que llegara a ser el más prestigioso en su época. Su creador, un asturiano de apellido Pubillones, llegó a Cuba en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, y falleció a principios del XX, tras años de exitosa labor. Los testimonios familiares que la autora escuchó desde niña, y la leyenda que a partir de su imaginario infantil fue creciendo, fueron la motivación esencial para penetrar los tesoros del Archivo Nacional, los archivos de las iglesias, fondos de bibliotecas, periódicos y fotografías conservadas por la familia, con el fin de descubrir, desde los sueños de su creador, hasta el doloroso final de la exitosa existencia del Circo, varias décadas después. En una Habana convulsa, donde la diversión y el teatro convivían con las contradicciones sociales, políticas y económicas, ocasionadas por la condición de colonia española, Pubillones presentaba sus espectáculos en los teatros más importantes de la época, como el Tacón e Yrijoa; creaba además carpas itinerantes y viajaba con sus espectáculos por toda la Isla y fuera del país, incluyendo Estados Unidos, México y otros. La prensa norteamericana se hacia eco de sus triunfos y en ella se anunciaba incluso, la disposición a contratar los mejores artistas circenses de la época. Los herederos continuarían su obra, tal y como puede apreciarse en este libro; una mujer de múltiples habilidades en la pista circense, llegada de España y nacida en Londres brillaría de modo particular con su arte y personalidad y asumió la responsabilidad de su existencia, hasta la desaparición definitiva, en la segunda década del pasado siglo. La autora logró darnos una visión valida y precisa, que es avalada por múltiples documentos, pero dejando plasmado el profundo arraigo familiar, que esta historia dejó en ellos, los de Cuba, y en otros Pubillones con vidas muy lejanas, que han conservado de alguna manera esta tradición con visos de leyenda. El libro expone los avatares de la creación, desarrollo y fin del Circo desentrañando para la familia y los lectores la verdadera historia del Gran Circo Pubillones.
